In Australia ACDs are generally known as Blue, Red or QLD Heelers.

When an ACD has a very light coat with a little speckling of red through it, then it is generally called a "QLD Heeler" on sight alone.

It's a very, very, common name for the breed here in Aus. :)
Caiza would quite commonly be called a "QLD Heeler" over here.

Oooops ... QLD = Queensland

<---FNQ = Far North Queensland. :cute:

This very well may be the only test I aced in my entire life. At least I know a bit about my dogs!

This is intresting to me. I have always known them back in the 70's to be called Queensland Heelers and wondered when the name changed to ACD I figured that was when the AKC acknowledged the breed ?

I think science just got a wee bit better and told us mere mortals that Blue, Red, and QLD Heelers are all really one breed of dog. Our clubs and societies just learn from science and do the appropriate thing in accordance to findings.

Pretty cool really. :)

I got 9/10 I got the question do ACD love to chew, I said faulse because my dog never did chew up anything even as a puppy, even today I will by her chew toys and she doesn't like them, she would much rather run and chase the cat then chew something... I thought that they were all like that

I got 10/10! Only because I read question 2 carefully!

When an ACD has a very light coat with a little speckling of red through it, then it is generally called a "QLD Heeler" on sight alone.

Looks like I have a baby Queensland Heeler! That was always my favorite name for them.

I got 9/10 because when they asked if the ACD was good for your first dog, I was stubborn and said YES (even though I knew they wanted me to say NO). Thing is, I don't agree with them!!! - I think that for the right people the ACD can be a perfect first and forever dog...if a person is the right sort and understands the nature of the breed!!! Heck, you could say the same for MANY breeds!!!
Fun Quiz, though!

I actuatlly got #2 right, as the questions asked what ISN'T a name for ACD.

I blew it on wether ACD is good as a first dog.

I'm into year #2 with my first dog Ruby, and it has been a wonderful experience!

10/10 for me. Almost missed the cattle dog being a good first dog. Since all i have ever had as an adult are cattle dogs. But then it has been a lot of work and I have been dedicated. :-) Others might not have the patience.

08-13-2014, 11:01 AM
Definitely takes patience, which I have little of but my wife and I have made it through so far and love our little cattle dog pup!
