Default Bentleys urgently needed for Croydon

Just read on FB that Croydon is seriously ill in the hospital. Power up, ACDs. Apparently she can`t get into Aucado for some reason so I`m doing it for her.

Oh no...she and Croydon have been through so much this past year. He is getting up there in age, which makes it more difficult too. I pray Anne has the strength to get through this, whatever the outcome is. Rody Jane's Bentley will be cranked up to high power.

Default Bentleys urgently needed for croydon

I am just posting now as I have not been able to get onto the Forum thanks Gill aka Blimey for posting for me. The night before yesterday and all yesterday morning Croydon did not stop vomiting I rushed him up to the Animal Hospital and on admission his temp was 40.5celcius which is way above normal and very dangerous. The doctor that saw him said that she did not know if he would make it through the weekend but that a clinical specialist would be in today and will be seeing Croydon. They put him on a drip to rehydrate him as he was getting very dehydrated from all the vomiting and he also showed signs that he was in a lot of pain he was given pain meds for that. He was very restless that is what he was like just before I took him to the hospital he would drink some water and vomit it up with this white foam in it and we noticed when we got up that he had been sick in nearly every room of the house all the same this water and white foam. I just spoke to the specialist and she said that his temp has dropped by 1 degrees and she is putting him on a high dose of antibiotics until they get the bloodwork back. They did a basic ultrasound yesterday but a specialist who would normally do that was not there but the vet didn't see anything. He will be having an endoscopy and a colonoscopy as well as further blood tests to try and figure out what is doing this. However at the moment the high temp is the major issue it raises his blood pressure and he could go into total organ failure and we know what the outcome of that is I can't type those words. So please Croydon needs all the Bentleys you can muster up I am in tears now so I will sign off I even slept with his big teddy last night and once again thanks Gill Anne and a very very sick Croydon

Croydon is now going into urgent surgery in 20 minutes this is going to be very risky due to the high fever but if they don't do it now he will die. He has a foreign body stuck in his lower intestine being a block of lime which for some unknown reason he ate out of a bucket in dad's garage but we thought he had vomited it all up but obviously not. His blood results came back with some level of toxicity and it has to come out now. A specialist surgeon and anaesthetist from Sydney Uni are coming to do the surgery and the Clinical Specialist looking after Croydon will call me during the surgery as she knows what a mess I am. I have no idea why croydon has started doing such stupid things he has never done anything like this in his life. A while ago he all of a sudden decided he would chew power cords. Even as a puppy he did not chew things up except his toys of course. My poor father is so upset about it he has had that old bucket of lime there for over 20 years and now after all this time Croydon decides to eat it why? Maybe he is just getting old and doing silly things but dad feels responsible and doesn't seem to be able to forgive himself as he loves Croydon to death. Oh well it is D Day for me so please up the Bentleys because the next 4-5 hours are critical Anne

    Anne,

I am so sorry you are having to go through this with Croydon. I know you are very worried about him and I would feel the same way if it was one of my dogs. It does seem odd that all of a sudden Croydon has begun eating things and chewing things he would never touch before. Bentleys are on high for him.

Bentleys shining on high power here, Anne. Your dad cannot blame himself; it's odd that Croydon has started doing this, but if he hasn't bothered it at all until now, there is no reason you would have thought to have put it away. I pray he comes through this OK.

I am going to start this post with a poem because it is fitting to my situation:
Without my dog my house would be clean,
    My wallet would be full,
BUT MY HEART WOULD BE EMPTY
I visited Croydon today as the Doctor said he was really down and even though he is on methadone and saline drips and has a catheter in something is missing ME that brought me to tears and I was in the car as soon as I hung up the phone.
I arrived and there he was in intensive care with only 2 other dogs with so many monitors and drips coming out of him I fell apart. The doctor assured me that whilst he is critical he is very stable and he doesn't have a fever as of thismorning. I put my hand in front of his nose and he opened his eyes looked at me and he tried so hard with a very dry tongue to lick me and then I saw it the tail wagging slightly and a smile on his face as he battled to lift his head and that my friends is what the love of a dog is. He is so sick but nothing was going to stop him from that moment in time that he had ME there with him. I can report that I saw the large piece of lime they removed from his small intestine and was also shown the Xrays. He won't eat so they asked me to bring his favourite foods strange but it is fresh fish and turkey mince so I got what I had from the freezer and stopped on the way and got a fresh piece of fish. He is going to make it against all odds he is going to pull through even the Clinical Specialist cannot believe his progress or that he even made it through surgery with such a high fever but he is one tough cookie my Croydon. I am having trouble typing this I keep crying so thank you for the Bentleys please keep them coming my baby is still critical but I am being positive he is going to make it Anne and a slowly improving tough little bugger Croydon

Hoping for a full recovery for Croyden and sending healing vibes. I havent really heard about the Bentley glowing tradition before but my baby cattle dog has one so will turn that up for Croyden.

I am happy to report that after my few visits to see Croydon and the way the staff saw that it lifted his spirits so much the Clinical Lead treating Croydon decided to do his ultrasound and Xrays early just to be sure there were no infections or any further pieces of lime that could have been hiding and now made their way into his small intestine well it was all clear. She called me and asked me if I was prepared to take a crash course in veterinary nursing and take Croydon home for a trial. I was in the car as soon as I hung up the phone. I was taught how to take his temperature and chart it, given all his meds and a chart to mark off when I gave them to him. Taught how to inject his pain meds of Temgesic am and pm, how to help him up and down any stairs it took a couple of hours even though I said yes I will be fine as soon as I saw how difficult he found it to walk and getting him in the car I have to admit I was scared and thought have I taken on more than I can handle. Well the opposite happened Dad a neighbour and I got him out of the car at home and off he walked even up the stairs unaided I could'nt believe it he knew he was home and that lifted his spirits so much he was ok wobbly but walking. The only problem is he still won't eat but he is drinking water which they were having trouble with at the hospital especially with oral antibiotics they had to syringe water down his throat. The injections I am ok with I have done that before so since yesterday afternoon I have had my baby home what a New Years gift that was for me. He is still not better but we will get there. I will be happy when he eats again. Thank you all for the bentleys and your thoughts and prayers keep the bentleys lit we have a way to go yet a very happy Anne and Croydon
