Last night I went downstairs and could'nt find Croydon. I found him on the back step with blood all around him I quickly got a torch and saw that he was hardly breathing and he was coughing up blood there was so much of it I was in a panic. I quickly got my mobile and my dad and loaded him in the back of my car and drove like a mad rat to the Animal Hospital calling them on the way to let them know I was bringing him in and what was happening with him. When we arrived they were waiting outside with a trolley and quickly got him to the emergency room they estimated from his blood pressure and the amount of blood that was coming out he had lost nearly a third of his blood they put a camera down his throat and found the bleeding was coming from his stomach. They told me they did'nt know if they could save him but he would need a specialist surgeon who was on his way from the city and a lot of luck from above. I could'nt stop crying and with that news I just colapsed in a heap on the floor. I begged please please try. The surgeon arrived and Croydon was in the operating theatre immediately for hours to me it felt like days I just cried and cried the whole time I just could'nt lose my darling boy not like this. They had been pumping blood into him from the time he arrived which I am sure helped. After a really long time the surgeon came out and said they found a sharp piece of plastic that had pierced the stomach lining he showed it to me it was from a yoghurt container. Obviously he had got it out of mum and dads bin. He told me they had stopped the bleeding, stitched up the hole in the stomach and now have him on strong sedatives so he can get his strength back but he is not out of the woods yet but he is a robust dog and he feels that he will pull through. This morning I went up again after getting home at 2am I did'nt sleep, to see him he is still sedated but they said his vital signs have improved but he has a way to go after losing so much blood. On a lighter note yesterday Croydon's health insurance was due I was debating whether to keep it as it had gone up to AUD$900 but I paid it how lucky was that as this is going to cost a fortune. Please pray for my Croydon he is all I have and I have had a really bad time lately but that is not for this forum. Croydon needs all the Bentleys you can send he is not out of the woods yet and things could change for the worse at anytime Anne and a very sick Croydon![]()
